An access log is a thorough list of all the files that were accessed by the guests of a certain website. Each and every file that was requested for some reason shall be listed, so if you have one webpage with 3 embedded images, one video and one embedded text file, as an example, the access log will contain a total of 6 entries - one for any of the six files that were accessed when the visitor opened the webpage. A log normally offers the file name and path, the date, in addition to the visitor’s Operating System, web browser and IP address. Oftentimes you could also find the referrer sites that sent the visitors to your site. The info that an access log file provides is in human-readable plain text format. It can be processed by special software on a PC and used to write reports on the performance of an Internet site, aside from the web stats that your web hosting server may have generated.

Access Log Manager in Cloud Hosting

Our custom Hepsia Control Panel includes a section focused on various logs and the access logs are among them. When you sign in to your cloud hosting account and take a look at this section, you'll find a list of all the domain names and subdomains that you have. All it takes to permit the generation of access logs is to press a button that will be available next to every domain/subdomain. In case the option is enabled, you will see a download link together with the file size so far, so you will be able to save the file to your computer and view it or process it with some app. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective instantaneously, so if you don't require one, you could stop it with simply a mouse click from the same exact section of the CP. You will still have the ability to access the already created content by simply clicking on the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you host your websites within a semi-dedicated server account with us, you'll have the option to activate or deactivate the generation of access logs with just a couple of clicks in your Hepsia hosting Control Panel. You shall find this feature in the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access once you sign in. All it takes for our system to start producing logs is one click on the On button you'll see there. The function can be activated independently for any site regardless if it uses a domain name or a subdomain and you'll find the complete list of all the hosts within that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with simply a click and you can then view it manually or use some software on your personal computer. The log generation may be disabled by simply switching the On option to Off within the Logs section of your CP.
